Previous Retreats
Italy
Since 1994, Buller has led retreats in the rolling Tuscan hills. The
location, in a private villa just outside the town of Montopoli, halfway
between Florence and Pisa, in the Val D'Arno, has allowed access to many
extraordinary settings. Students have explored; both internally through
painting practice and externally through day trips to surrounding towns and
cities, wandering through works of art and architecture archetypal to
western culture.

Greece
Buller has led four retreats to Greece from 1999 through 2002. Their
location on the edge of the Mediterranean ocean, on the island of
Andros, allowed participants the possibility of experiencing the ancient beauty of
the blue and white Greek islands in the strong light of the present.
Students lived in a whitewashed hotel at the end of the coastal road from
the town of Batsi, Andros is a two-hour ferry ride from the mainland port
of Rafina near Athens.

Buller has offered retreats at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center from 2000 through
2003. Green Gulch Farm Zen Center is located in Marin county, just north
of San Francisco in a valley that opens out onto the Pacific Ocean. In
addition to ongoing programs of meditation and study, it includes an organic
farm and garden, as well as Lindisfarne Guest House, exquisitely crafted by
Japanese woodworkers, where participants stay. The delicious vegetarian
meals are wholesome and beautifully prepared. Painting is practiced in the
lush tended gardens and at the ocean. To compliment the painting practice
students have engaged in meditation instruction and practice as well.
